WebMCP Readiness

Make your website something AI agents can use, not just read.

WebMCP is a new web standard that lets a website hand AI agents a short list of tools — request a quote, book a call, check stock — instead of making the agent guess its way through pages built for people. Google is trialling it in Chrome now. We audit your site, decide which tools are worth exposing, build them, and keep a person in control of every action that matters.

What WebMCP Readiness delivers

Why WebMCP is key

AI agents are starting to research and buy on a person's behalf. WebMCP lets your site tell them exactly what it can do and what each field means, so they complete the task on your site instead of a competitor's.

Faster than scraping, more reliable than guessing

An agent calls a named tool with clear inputs, rather than reading the screen and clicking. Fewer failed attempts, fewer wrong submissions, and answers it can trust.

A person stays in control

We expose read-only tools freely and keep anything that sends, books or buys behind the visitor's own confirmation, with your existing spam and bot protection unchanged.

Built on your existing site

Most of the work is labelling the forms and data you already have. No rebuild, no new platform, and nothing changes for human visitors.

Proven on our own site

sentrydigitalservices.com already exposes its enquiry form, quote form and service catalogue as WebMCP tools. We build for clients what we run ourselves.

One data layer · measured & owned

Every service creates data — captured, measured, owned.

WebMCP Readiness doesn’t just run — it generates signal. We land that data in one warehouse and turn it into live KPIs tied to a named owner, so performance is attributable and acted on, never trapped inside a single tool.

WebMCP explained

The terms that matter

WebMCP

A proposed web standard, incubated in the W3C Web Machine Learning Community Group, that lets a page register tools an AI agent in the browser can discover and call.

When you need it: It turns a website from something an agent reads into something it can reliably use.

Declarative tool

An existing HTML form labelled with a tool name and plain-English descriptions of each field.

When you need it: The fastest route to readiness: your quote or contact form becomes an agent tool with no new backend.

Origin trial

Chrome's way of letting a named website switch on a new feature for real visitors before it ships to everyone. WebMCP is in origin trial from Chrome 149, with release expected in Chrome 157.

When you need it: Registering now puts your site in front of early agent users and ready on the day it ships.

Why this matters

Functional value, value-stream value — and why it can't be ignored.

Functional value

WebMCP audit, tool design, implementation on forms and catalogues, origin-trial registration, testing in an agent-enabled browser, and monitoring of how agents use the tools.

Value-stream value

The front door of the value stream: when a buyer's AI assistant does the shortlisting, the site it can actually act on is the one that gets the enquiry.

Why you can't ignore it

Search is moving from people clicking links to assistants completing tasks. A site that an agent can only scrape is a site an agent has to guess about — and guesses lose to a competitor whose quote form the agent can simply call.

How we select technology

We choose technology last — for the outcomes it has to earn.

Never tech for its own sake. A tool joins the stack only where it measurably protects value, cuts cost or unlocks speed — fit to a designed system, owned where it counts, and measurable from day one. How we select technology →

Speed

Modern, edge-served stacks are sub-second. Slow surfaces cost conversion and SEO every single day.

Cost

Cut licence, hosting and per-task SaaS fees — pay for capability, not lock-in or idle enterprise tiers.

Security

Flat, edge architecture with almost nothing left to attack — fewer moving parts, smaller surface.

Ownership & no lock-in

Composable and self-hosted where it counts — you own the system, not rent someone else’s.

Measurability

Clean data and KPIs baked in — you cannot improve, automate or apply AI to what you cannot measure.

Fit to process

The right tool for a designed system — selected against process readiness, so it amplifies, not adds friction.

How we deliver · DMAIC

Every WebMCP Readiness engagement runs on DMAIC.

Define the goal and its value, measure the baseline, analyse the real constraint, improve with a proven build, then control the gains — so results are predictable, repeatable and defensible, not down to luck.

DDefine

Agree the goal, value, budget & timescale up front.

MMeasure

Baseline the KPIs above — current state, not guesswork.

AAnalyse

Diagnose the real constraint and the solution needed.

IImprove

Build the chosen solution; prove the uplift.

CControl

Lock in the gains; monitor and sustain them.
